Hi and hello!
First - thanks, as always, for reading this every-other-Friday inbox kiss of a newsletter. The hope is that it inspires you and serves as a little surprise amongst all of the promotional emails that you keep meaning to unsubscribe from. For what it's worth, you should do that soon - it is so cathartic.
This week is no different as it is gift guide weeeeeek! In an effort to not be cynical about the amount of ad-riddled, inconclusive gift guides that are everywhere, always starting November 1st, I began creating my own a few years back. A small smattering of sorts. I’ll continue to add to it as we carry on throughout the holiday seassss. Forewarning; the only trace of organization you’ll find in this gift guide is that it’s on a Pinterest board.
2022 Gift Guide
Whether you are gifting out of obligation or genuine excitement, I hope a few of these picks help inspire your decision. Price points are a bit all over the place.
If gifting is important to you and you are afforded the time, take a minute to get creative about what the person might really like. Growing up, my friend and her siblings would each take an afternoon with their dad to go to the local antique strip (s/o Hopkins Mainstreet) to pick out a gift for their sibling. Though I didn’t see the value in that tradition then, I wish I had invented it now. Thoughtfulness outweighs the price point every time!
Maybe gifting stresses you out! It might be time to make a fool-proof gifting game plan for yourself. Personally, I love going down eBay rabbit holes or buying somebody a tee from the place where they’re a regular (waiting for the day Wei’s makes t-shirts). In my single-digit b-day party attendance era, I would give all of my friends the same thing - a kodak disposable + a POS cellophane photo booklet. Def thinking of bringing that back, disregarding the fact that disposable cameras have tripled in price since then. Another idea that I love is subscription gifting! Gift somebody a newsletter subscription, a wine club sub, orrrr a coffee subscription!
Do you have a favorite gift that you’ve received? Drop in the comments! I’m curious.
WFIM will be taking a November hiatus as I’ll be in Norway for the next couple of weeks. Obvi more to come on that.
Have a lovely weekend + Thanksgiving!
WFIM,
Josie
