short + sweet
nutritional yeast and a new apartment soft launch inside
Morning!
Coming to you semi-live from a stunning morning on the back deck with a fairlyyyy blank mind. Maybe it’s the allergy-induced cold that has taken charge of my entire week or, that upon feeling 30% better, I skipped what could have been a beneficial night of rest to watch the end of the Western Conference Finals (sad howl).
Truthfully, any other free time has been allocated to bartering with Facebook Marketplace strangers followed by Ubers to and fro their respective homes in hopes of furnishing my new apartment this summer.
I’m slowly moving into a one-bedroom a literal stone’s throw away from my current place and will be there full time later this summer (!!!). Prepare yourselves now for musings on how-to-maximize-a-closet-bathroom and ~the white noise machine that will change your life if you, too, happen to live on top of the G train~. It should all make for some exciting projects that, if I’m lucky, i will start and finish.
I’m not the only one! While last summer felt somewhat static, people are on the move —literally— this year. New neighborhoods, grad school in California, a new job in Miami, a PhD program in Chicago, a two-bedroom in Tampa, Freshman year in Ft. Collins and an Edina-adjacent (Bloomington) house with a pool to name a few.
With a move comes so. much. decision. making. Should you go the cost-effective route or invest in something that you’ll love for a long time? Is it worth it to change the overhead lighting? Should you paint the bathroom even if you’re only there for a year? The answer? Do what you can with what you have right now to enjoy being in the space. Hide the trash can, light the candle, crack the window and use your favorite mug — stop comparing switch plates and live, honey!!
If you need some inspo, here’s my years-old board where any thought I’ve ever had about a room lives.
Short and sweet today, but here are some yums from the last couple of weeks that I highly rec:
Best thing at TJs. BjornQorn’s little brother who didn’t go to college:
Tried and true double al pastor a la Taqueria Ramirez (which has a new location opening any day now in the East Village)
A pitcher of Mezcal White Negronis from Bad Luck Bar. Not pictured: curly fries hit w/ Old Bay directly out of the fryer.
I’ll leave you with this coconut-something-something cold brew from A&C Super. Big summer smash.
I’m uncharacteristically heading to Nantucket in a few hours with not one Nantucket-esque thing to wear. Should be interesting!
Get outside this weekend — bye!

Taqueria Ramirez was one of my fav taco spots in nyc when I lived in EV - so cool to see them opening up a new location there. I'm curious, how much did you snag that tulip table for?
